Primatus Eruditus Evolutie
Primatus Eruditus: evolutie
For my sculpture Primatus Eruditus (see previous posts on this blog), consisting of a family of four mythological fantasy creatures (man-woman-child-feline) from out of the future, finish project planned 2045, I often do research such as this. Names of real existing persons will not appear in the written nine fairy tale episodes though.
Isaac Watts °17 juli 1674 – +25 november 1748
“ […] ‘Tis true my form is something odd
but blaming me is blaming God
could I create myself anew
I would not fail in pleasing you
if I could reach from pole to pole
or grasp the ocean with a span
I would be measured by the soul
the mind’s the standard of the man.”
(from Isaac Watts’ poem “False greatness” often quoted by Joseph Merrick, London)
